INSTRUMENTS

Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, Electric Guitar, Bass, Drum set, Violin, Vocal.

$250 // (Please bring the tuition in cash to pay on first day)

Jazz Competition

The 2020 TJW Jazz Competition is open to all instrumentalist and vocalists from any country. Rangsit University Conservatory of Music or Jazz Education Abroad do not cover any costs of the contestant’s transportation, housing, or food for the Competition

All contestants must be registered in the 2020 Thailand Jazz Workshop

Complete the registration form and then click on ‘Competition’ to complete your Competition Application. All competition entrants must send a copy of their country’s ID Card or Passport, a photo of you with your Instrument, and a short biography. Applicants must be 29 year-old or less by March 7th (if you turn 30 by March 6th you cannot participate; if you turn 30 by March 8th, you can participate).

1st Place // 15,000 Baht
2nd Place // 10,000 Baht
3rd Place // 5,000 Baht

The First Round

Upload your video and send the link or video to rsumusic@rsu.ac.th. The contestant will need to perform live with the band or backing track. The video must focus on improvisation. Having good video and more importantly, a good sound recording, will be to the contestant’s advantage. Deadline for uploading the video is 21 February 2020

The Second Round

From the Internet videos, 10 contestants will be chosen to perform in the Semi-finals Competition

The Semi-Final Round

Semi-finalists will play one (1) selection of their choice, 5 minutes or less, with the Thailand Jazz Workshop Faculty Rhythm Section. Semi-finalists must have lead sheets for Piano, Bass and Drums, with clear form and arrangement, Intro-Head-Improvisation-Head-Ending. No rehearsal will take place. Contestants must have music, intros and endings, clearly marked

Final Round!!

From the above Semi-Finals Competition, three Finalists will be chosen by the Adjudicators. The finalists will play a tune with 2020 TJW Faculty Rhythm Section. Do bring the lead sheets for the rhythm section with clear arrangements. No rehearsal will take place
